The Lagos State commissioner of police Mr, Fatai Owoseni visited the
scene of the Apapa riot yesterday evening.
This is what actually happened
A trailer driver was shot to death close to Diamond bank on Creek road
by a trigger happy mobile policeman attached to diamond bank Creek road
branch.
According to eye witness reports, the driver just finished eating a meal of bread and beans and decided to go charge his phone inside his friend's truck when he was accosted by the mobile policeman to move the truck from that position. All efforts to explain to the policeman that the vehicle isn't his and he can't drive the vehicle as he isn't acquainted with handling the vehicle and he can only go to call his friend who is the driver fell on deaf ears. The mopol opened fire and shot the driver dead. The truck drivers seeing what happened mobilised and attempted to lynch the mopol which was resisted by his colleagues.
Diamond bank was razed by the mob. The mopol attempted to escape by firing sporadically which failed but he was harboured by his colleagues attached to Sterling bank creek road which was also razed.
