Heavily armed security operatives this morning took over the Unity Fountain venue of the "Enough is Enough Of This Senseless Killings”
protest planned for Abuja. The security, which includes; Anti riot
policemen, State Security Services (SSS), Civil Defence Corps and
Nigerian army personnel. took over the venue with anti riot water canon
tanker, Armored Personnel Carrier and sniffer dogs stationed at
strategic location around the venue of the protest.
A group of concerned youths and women organizations led by a youth leader Ibrahim Garba Wala had planned to stage a peaceful protest against what the groups described as the wanton and unnecessary killings going on in Nigeria's northeatern parts, especially in Borno and Yobe States. They said the protest became necessary following Tuesday morning slaughter of 59 students at a government boarding school in Yobe state. The students were woken from their sleep and slaughtered by Islamist militants believed to be Boko Haram.
