Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, born on the 25th of November, 1946 is a Nigerian politician and former Vice President (1999-2007) under the Obasanjo presidency. He is still actively interested in becoming the nation’s President. A titled chief (Turakin Adamawa), he was in the Nigerian Customs Service before going into politics and today, he has various investments in various sectors of the economy: agriculture, oil services, food and beverages, print media, pharmaceuticals and education (he owns the American University of Nigeria, AUN, which is the first American university established in sub-Saharan Africa

Married to Titi Abubakar, four children and two grandchildren. Also married to Rukayat, Fatima and Jennifer. 

Career: Tax Officer, Northern Nigeria Ministry of Finance, 1966; various positions, Federal Civil Service, 1966-89; Governor, Adwama State, 1999; Vice-President, 1999-2007.
