Tragedy- 10 Members of Same Family Shot Dead

 

10 members of same family shot dead were shot dead on Thursday night while mourning their  grandma’s death in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State. 

The gunmen reportedly swooped on the victims who were mourners at Kogom Village of Van district of the local government, gunning them down and injuring three others.

It was learnt that the dead had gathered with others at the family compound in the village to mourn their late grandmother and conclude preparations for the burial when the gunmen, numbering about 20, stormed the compound and opened fire on them.

It was gathered that after shooting them at close range, the gunmen also hacked those writhing in pain to death, while others at the scene escaped to a nearby bush.

An eyewitness said that the incident occurred at about 8.30 p.m  on Thursday,  adding that the appearance of the gunmen was heralded by sporadic gunshots into the air, which forced the villagers to stay indoors while the operation lasted.
