Fayose Praises Buhari, Urges Nigerians to Accept Election Results

Ayo Fayose, Ekiti state governor.

The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has urged Nigerians to accept the outcome of Saturday’s presidential election in good faith, saying; “the election result is the will of God and Nigerians, and all lovers of peace, progress and development of Nigeria must accept it”.

Mr. Fayose, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, hailed the resilience and commitment of President Goodluck Jonathan and Mohammadu Buhari.

The governor said the election results should not been seen as victory or loss for any political party, adding that, “To me, Nigerians and democracy won.”

Political career

Orubebe became a Supervisory Councilor, and later Chairman of Burutu LGA. In July 2007, President Umaru Yar'Adua appointed him Minister of Special Duties.[2] Later he became Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs when that ministry was created in December 2008.[3] In January 2010 he said that the proposed 10% equity share policy on infrastructural development in the Niger Delta region would make vandalism and crisis a thing of the past.[4] On the 31st of March 2015, he attempted to disrupt the proceedings of the 2015 presidential election collation, but was escorted from the building.

A lot of Nigerian celebrities and showbiz personalities have been quite vocal politically, expressing their thoughts as regards the conduct of free and fair elections while some even campaigned overtly for candidates of their choice. Sadly, while every other Nigerian damned the elements to participate in the general elections , some celebrities decided to attend to other activities. Most of them were out of town to headline concerts in other parts of the world while some others decided to lie low and keep calm in their various homes. HKN boss, Davido left the shores of Nigeria on Friday, March 27, 2015 in a private jet along with members of his HKN Gang which includes B-Red, Deekay and Kamal Ajiboye. He’s billed to headline the 5th edition of the Afrobeat festival in Kenya today, thus he won’t be voting either Buhari or Jonathan....

Gov. Rotimi Amaechi Declares Curfew In Rivers State


The Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has declared dusk-to-dawn curfew on Port Harcourt, the state capital, hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission announced the result of the presidential and National Assembly elections in the state.

In a terse statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, George Feyi, the governor said the curfew will hold from 7p.m. to 6a.m.

NBC Releases List Of Media Houses That Breached Broadcasting Code


The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) on Monday released the list of broadcasting stations that contravened the provisions of the Nigeria Broadcasting code from the beginning of electioneering campaign to date.

A statement signed by the commission’s Director/Head, Public Affairs, Alhaji Awwalu Salihu, in Abuja, said the contraventions included breaches of the rules on the broadcast of sponsored campaign materials.

Woman Stabs Husband To Death Over PDP, APC Presidential Candidates



Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old pregnant woman who allegedly stabbed her husband to death during a quarrel over who would emerge winner between the Peoples Democratic Party and All Progressives Congress, APC presidential candidates, while voting was on-going , weekend, at Ejigbo area of the state.


The incident, which threw the densely populated area into disarray, occurred at about 12noon inside the couple’s one room apartment at 81 Military zone junction.

There were different accounts on how tragedy struck. A version of the account said the couple had divergent views on their choice of presidential candidates. While the husband was said to have decided to vote for the PDP, his wife, simply called Onyiyechi, reportedly chose to vote for the presidential candidate of the APC.

INEC To Announce Presidential Result Today

The Independent National Electoral Commission has said that despite the extension of Saturday’s elections till Sunday in some parts of the country, the results of the presidential poll will be declared on Monday(today).

INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, gave the assurance   as some of results from wards, local government areas and states continued to emerge on Sunday.

For instance, results from Osun and Ogun states showed the All Progressives Congress Presidential candidate, Maj.Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, defeating President Goodluck Jonathan.

Crowd Outside Bauchi INEC Headquarters To Protect Their Votes Despite Curfew

 
 
 


According to reports from Bauchi state, locals have right now stormed the state's INEC headquarters despite a 24 hour curfew imposed by the state government.

Governor Isa Yuguda had warned residents to stay indoors, declaring that any body found wanting must face the wrath of the law. The government said that the measure was to forestall an escalation of attacks after Nigerian troops engaged gunmen in fierce fighting in  Dungulbe village, 7krs from Bauchi State Capital.

Earlier on in a press statement, the APC Directorate of Media and Publicity noted that intelligence report at its disposal indicated that the Bauchi State governor was in the process of manufacturing crisis across the state so as to give an impression that elections across the state which put the APC in clear lead in all layers of election was inconclusive and therefore call for an outright cancellation of all the elections held on Saturday in Bauchi State.

Another popular Ibadan billionaire has died. Alhaji Mufutau Ajade Lanihun popularly known as “Olowo ti nfowo sanu’’ due to his generosity has passed away. He passed away today at one of his residences in Ibadan after a prolonged sickness. The Billionaire businessman and philanthropist, has however been buried according to Muslim rites. He was buried at his Oke Ado residence. Lanihun was 69.

According to 89-year-old Dr. Abimbola Silva ─ mother of Nollywood actress, Joke Silva ─ voting was her fundamental right.

Silva, who was in a wheelchair, said, “It is my right to vote. By doing this I am laying a good example for the younger generation. The exercise has been ok,” she said.

Wife Stabs Hubby To Death After Altercation Over Okro



It all happened yesterday (though they've been having series of marital issues-who doesn't anyway),the deceased came home to find his wife cutting okro in their matrimonial bedroom. He told his wife to carry the okro somewhere else but their matrimonial room. 

The wife retorted, apparently saying something that really upset the deceased (he is partially deformed on the hand), the latter slapped the wife, and she took the okro to the kitchen.

Wizkid Smashes Fan’s Iphone 6 In Dubai Club While Smoking Weed


Samuel Ajayi, a disgruntled fan of Afro pop sensation Wizkid took to his Instagram page to blast the artiste for allegedly destroying his expensive iPhone.

According to Ajayi, all he wanted to do was to take a photo of Wizkid smoking a joint at the Dubai club where they were all having fun and cooling off, when the artiste turned violent, attacked him and then smashed his phone into pieces.

In addition to this, Wizkid allegedly also broke a window in the Dubai Night club, in his rage, forcing Dubai police to shut down the club temporarily, ruining the fun for the night crawlers present at the party.
