Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode in a statement signed
by his Chief Press Secretary, Habib Aruna, has urged his family members, friends,
political associates and well wishers who intend to run adverts in pages of
newspapers or other avenues to wish him a happy birthday on Sunday June, 14 to
please desist from it and send him the advert money, so he can use it to fight a
good cause- a fight against cancer.
“As a modest way of touching the distressed and making
impact on humanity, I have decided to associate with ‘The Committee Encouraging
Corporate Philanthropy’ in fighting the big war against cancer,” the Governor
said in the statement.
The statement also noted that the project is being anchored
by Dr. Christopher Kolade and Professor Pat Utomi. A bank account, First Bank,
Account of CECP-Nigeria; No: 2026761622, was also made available for such
donations to be paid into.
