Police Arrests NYSC Member for Stealing Okada

The police in Osun State have arrested a
member of the National Youth Service Corps in the state for allegedly
stealing a motorcycle.
The corps member, Kazeem Adebisi, was
said to have stolen the red Bajaj motorcycle with number plate, FST 680
QB, at Agunbelewo area of Osogbo on Thursday.
The owner of the motorcycle, one Mr.
Oladeji Oyewole, was said to have gone inside a football viewing centre.
He was said to have come out to discover that his motorcycle was
nowhere to be found.

Secondary School Students Threaten to Kill Corpers in Kogi State

It's no good news to hear that NYSC Corp Members are treated with discontentment in Kogi State, especially in remote local government like Olamaboro.
There have been cases of some drunk youths ganging up to launch attack on corpers at their capital project sites, accusing them of integrating strange norms into their culture
Let me go straight to what I witnessed this morning. I woke up this morning like every other boring mornings in the village where I serve, dressed up, and went to the school. On arrival, all the students were gathered at one corner looking at me and the other Corp members, some with satisfaction, while others with pity.
On getting to the class rooms, we saw some write-ups directly warning me and other three(3) batch A Corp members.

Ex-NANS President, Segun Okeowo Is Dead
Segun Okeowo
A former president of the National Association of Nigeria Students, NUNS, Segun Okeowo, is dead.
Mr. Okeowo led nationwide students protest against the Olusegun
Obasanjo-led military government in the late 1970s during the famous
‘Ali Must Go’ era.
He died at about 6.30 a.m. on Tuesday at Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, at the age of 73.
His son, Kolade Segun-Okeowo, confirmed the death ,
saying he was rushed to the hospital following a heart related ailment.
Riot Policemen Disperse Pro-Amaechi Rally In Abuja
Protesters teargassed by police
A team of riot policemen, numbering over 200 on Tuesday, dispersed
over 100 protesters, led by the Executive Secretary of Anti-Corruption
Network and former member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Dino
Melaye.
They were protesting against what they described as “impunity in
Rivers State and abuse of office by the state Commissioner of Police,
Mr. Joseph Mbu.”
During the protest, tear gas canisters were fired indiscriminately even at journalists.
Some of the protesters slumped and fainted in the process.
The battle-ready policemen had earlier condoned off the Federal Secretariat area, Abuja, where the protest was billed to hold.
The ACN protesters, in their bid to hold the rally, decided to march
from the organisation’s office to the secretariat, but met an unyielding
police blockade. The security operatives fired tear gas canisters at
the demonstrators, which resulted in a stampede, with some sustaining
injuries.

Teenagers Stab 27-year-old Man to Death in Abuja (GRAPHIC IMAGE)
A group of teenagers have attacked and killed a resident of Utako village in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
27-year-old Alhassan Musa was killed at about 7pm last Thursday,
January 23 by the young boys when he attempted to settle a quarrel
between them.
The teenage boys were said to have made the habit of terrorizing
residents of the area and raping young girls in a nearby primary school.

SSS Finally Releases El-Rufai After 15 Hours of Interrogation
Officials of the State Security
Service (SSS) have released Nasir El-Rufai, a former Minster for the
Federal Capital Territory, on bail, the agency released Mr. El-Rufai
last night after after interrogating him for more than 15 Hours. The former minister is the interim
deputy national secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Mallam Nasir El-Rufai left the SSS premises at 12.35a.m today after more than 15 hours,” the former minister’s media advisor, Muyiwa Adekeye, tweeted at 12.40 this morning.

Mr. El-Rufai had turned himself in this morning accompanied by Rivers

Agents of the SSS were upset to find
out that Mr. El-Rufai had arrived at their offices with gadgets to
record his interrogation.
The former minister was released after he
provided a surety as demanded by the security agency as a condition for
his release. The source, however, refused to disclose the identity of
Mr. El-Rufai’s surety.

I Rape Minors to Elongate My Life – 71 years old Serial Rapist
Alhaji
Ganiyu is 71 years old, a hunter and a night guard. He ia also a self
confessed paedophile. But he has his reasons for raping minors.
An
acclaimed serial rapist has said that his actions were informed by his
desire to live long on earth. Making the revelation recently was a night
guard, identified as Alhaji Ganiyu. Alhaji Ganiyu, 71, was recently
arrested for raping a seven-year-old primary one pupil, (name withheld)
inside his one room apartment after luring her with biscuit.
The
incident reportedly occurred last month in Oba-Ile area of Akure, the
Ondo State capital. The rapist, an ex-convict (having left jail two
years ago) was reportedly arrested by men of the Nigeria Security and
Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), after the victim’s mother rushed to the
security agency for help.

El-Rufai May Spend Night In SSS Detention
There was no indication this evening that the former Minister of
Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nasir El-Rufai, who voluntarily turned
himself in at the headquarters of the State Security Service (SSS) in
Abuja this morning, would be released to go home.
The SSS had declared El Rufai, the Interim Deputy National Secretary
of the All Progressives Congress (APC) wanted over a comment attributed
to him that the 2015 election could turn violent if rigged and many
people left dead.
As of 7.20pm Nigerian time on Monday, the former Minister was still being detained by operatives of the SSS.
Journalists who were anxiously keeping vigil for the outcome of the interrogation left for home in disappointment.
There are indications that the service may file charges against El
Rufai, but as of the time of this report there was no official statement
in respect of the detention.

Jan 25, 2014 as many dignitaries, prominent sons and daughters of Ijebu
land defied the scotching sun to honour their son, Hon. Dayo
Bush-Alebiosu (DBA) who was conferred with the chieftancy title of
‘Otunba
Fuwagbuyi of Ijebuland’ by His Royal Majesty Oba Sikiru Adetona, the
Awujale of
Ijebu land.
The honour was in recognition of Hon. Bush-Alebiosu’s
contribution to the development of his community and his achievements in the
House of Representative as the Chairman, House Committee on Treaties and Agreement.
