Abuja Bus Station Bombings: Military, SSS Aware Of Boko Haram Congregating In FCT Border Areas

 According to- SAHARA REPORTERS

Barely 24 hours after the deadly bombings of Nyanya Motor Park by suspected Boko Haram members, a credible military source today told SaharaReporters that members of the sect are congregating in Abuja satellite areas planning attacks inside the city, but that the security agencies are aware of their presence.

About 100 persons were killed in Monday morning’s attack, with close to 200 reported to be injured.

The source said the Boko Haram presence has been identified in such locations as Kaduna, Niger and Nasarawa states, but that until the security agencies launch tough operations in those locations, satellite towns around Abuja will suffer sporadic attacks such as was experienced in Nyanya on Monday morning.

“It is not a secret, the intelligence corps of the three military services and the SSS know this fact that there are suspected Boko Haram congregating in border locations with Abuja,” he said.

“And their entire goal is to penetrate into the heart of Abuja after the attacks on UN Building, Police Headquarters and our barracks. This is real; there have been arrests and some evidence to that effect.”

He noted that whether the security agencies are doing the right things and maintaining effective surveillance is a different question, as there is laxity in intelligence gathering and in countering the menace in those satellite areas.

The source called for robust surveillance in order to avoid Nyanya-style attacks.  "If they find it difficult to enter Abuja, they will attack soft targets, so there is urgent need to intensify manhunt in border tows as soon as possible."
