Photo: 40-Year-Old Woman Caught With Dead Day Old Baby in Sack in Lagos

A 40-year old widow named Mujidat was caught yesterday Wednesday October 30th with a dead day old baby she hid inside a sack around her residence at at the Iba area of Lagos, PM News reports.

It was gathered that a member of the community, High Chief Babatunde Balogun caught the mother of seven when she was  trying to dispose the baby at about 5 p.m. on Wednesday. When questioned on the content of the sack, she claimed she was coming from the market where she bought some household items.

However, on a closer look, Balogun discovered that the sack contained a dead day old baby the woman allegedly had just delivered. He then called the attention of the other residents. Neighbours told P.M News that after Mujidat’s husband known as Baba Mushin died about three years ago, they have seen men visiting her residence, the house built by her late husband.

Stella Oduah Tells House of Rep- N255M BMW Bullet Proof Cars Were Not Bought For Me

Minister of Aviation,Princess Stella Oduah Thursday told members of the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation that the alleged purchase of N255million BMW armoured cars were not bought for her personal use.

Oduah who astonished stakeholders with this disclosure at the investigative hearing on the issue in her 12 page presentation said:

“As you all are aware, what necessitated this public hearing were the events that followed a false and malicious online publication that I had compelled the NCAA to purchase for me 2 nos BMW bullet proof cars at the cost of $1.6million. ”

“Let me state emphatically that from the onset that the allegation concerning the purchase of the 2 nos bullet proof cars for me by the NCAA is false in its entirety. ”

After reading her presentation, Rep Zakari Lafia Mohammed asked her whether it is a loan or lease that her agency obtained from FBN, she said it is the same. She said the money NCAA would pay would still be below the N240million at the end of the year.

REVEALED- Another Cash-Strapped Aviation Agency, FAAN, Borrowed N1.3 Billion For Aviation Minister’s Bullet-Proof Cars

An ongoing investigation by SaharaReporters has revealed how Aviation Minister Stella Oduah compelled the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), a cash-strapped agency under her supervision, to borrow a huge amount from a commercial bank in order to buy her two bullet-proof cars. 

The scandalous transaction, which is quite similar to the one that cost the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) $1.6 million to purchase two armored BMW cars, was also hatched using a loan facility from the First Bank of Nigeria.

Several sources at FAAN and First Bank told SaharaReporters that George Uriesi, the Managing Director of FAAN, conspired with Ms. Oduah to obtain a loan of N1.3 billion from First Bank. Part of the loan was used to buy 205 cars for several staff members, directors as well as board members of FAAN.

In addition, however, four armored cars were purchased for the Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, and FAAN’s MD, Mr. Uriesi.

Our sources listed the cars bought for the minister as two “American Spec Lexus Limousines.” As happened in the NCAA deal, reliable sources at FAAN told SaharaReporters that the vehicles were never physically delivered to FAAN. Instead, some of our sources disclosed that the automobile vendor gave the minister over N150 million as kickbacks after First Bank of Nigeria had paid for the vehicle.

The House of Representatives committee on Aviation, will today conclude hearing on the purchase of two armoured cars for the aviation minister, Stella Oduah, for N255 million.

 The hearing was adjourned from yesterday, Wednesday, to allow the aviation minister attend. The minister was expected at the Wednesday hearing but was absent because she was away in Israel for a bilateral air service agreement signing.

The highlight of today’s hearing would be the minister’s appearance. Her absence at the hearing yesterday angered many lawmakers who said it would be her last opportunity to be heard.

Forbes Names Dangote Africa’s Most Powerful Man

The President, Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has been named the most powerful man in Africa and 64th in the world by the Forbes magazine.

Dangote, who Forbes says is by far Africa’s richest man with a net worth of $16.1bn as of March 2013, was ranked ahead of the likes of Fifa President, Sepp Blatter (69); Speaker, United States House of Representatives, John Boehner (66); and Founder, Mo Ibrahim Foundation, Mohammed Ibrahim (71).

Apart from Dangote, Ibrahim is the only other African on the list, which contains 72 people.

Russia’s President, Vladimir Putin, topped the list, displacing United States President, Barrack Obama, who dropped to the second spot for the first time in three years.

Chinese President, Xi Jinping, occupies the third spot, while the head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis, debuts on the list at number four.

Pope Francis, who was elected in March this year, leads 12 other new entrants.

An actor in the Nollywood film industry has died after a brief illness.

Ray Daniels Okeugo died on the evening of Friday the 25th of October 2013, in Lagos, Nigeria a the age of 33.

Okeugo used to act in many soap operas and home videos before taking into photography. His burial arrangement is being planned by Lagos state chapter of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) led by Victor Osuagu.

14-year-old Boy Rapes 9-year-old Girl To Death

The police in Lagos State have commenced investigation into how a nine-year-old girl died, after sustaining injuries caused by alleged consistent rape.

According to police authorities, the deceased was raped over five times, by a 14-year-old student, Onyi Adimabua, in the Ikorodu area of the state.

The father of the deceased, Simeon Jigo said that Onyi is the son of the proprietor of the school his daughter attended.

Tragic period of Nollywood celebrities deaths continues. The beautiful actress named Janet Atayero Oluseye, who used to be one of the prominent faces of Yoruba genre of Nollywood, has passed away.

Janet, who got married just a year ago, to Olalekan Oluseye, died at the age of 32 on Wednesday 23th of October, 2013.

The member of Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioner (ANTP), Ibadan chapter was with the Ojopagogo movie caucus in Ibadan until her death.

She was said to have complained of pains on her foot and couldn’t walk with it for months and subsequently her condition deteriorated even though she was treated in the hospital and with some spiritual measures.

However, Janet Atayero Oluseye didn’t survive and was buried in Lagos, the same day she died

Governor Aliyu of Niger State Pulls-out Of New PDP

The new Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suffered setback as one of its major sponsors, Niger State governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu, says he is pulling out because he was no longer comfortable with the group.

A source close to the governor told our correspondent yesterday that his principal opted to pull out of the group quietly to avoid raising dust. He said Governor Aliyu is backing down to save his political career and ease his bid to anoint a successor with the least opposition from the party.

“His Excellency is not comfortable with the direction the new PDP is taking especially in his state where any tiny slip would deprive him of the control of the party’s political machinery. He would be required to set up a new party structure and leave the formidable structure the PDP already has in place for others to use,” the source said.

Another Plane Crash Averted At The Nnamdi Azikwe Airport in Abuja

Another air disaster was averted at the Nnamdi Azikwe Airport, Abuja on Monday as a Med-View Airlines aircraft from Lagos suddenly took to the air again at the point of landing in Abuja.

The pilot told the passengers that he took to the air again to avoid a collision with another aircraft on the tarmac.

The airline Flight VL2104 took off from the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos at noon and was scheduled to land in Abuja at about 1.05pm.

Tyre Repairer Kidnaps His Own Son, Demands N350,000 Ransom

The State Security Service, Lagos State Command, has arrested a 48-year-old man, Samson Adebayo, for allegedly arranging the kidnap of his nine-year-old son, Emmanuel, and demanding a ransom of N350, 000.

According to the SSS, Adebayo had solicited the help of his girlfriend, Kehinde Alonge, to kidnap Emmanuel from his residence at 2, Solomon Street, Ilu-Nla, Aradagun, Badagry.

The director, SSS, Lagos State, Mr. Ben Achu-Olayi, said Adebayo reported the incident to security agents, pretending to be distraught.

He said, “On October 7, 2013, the command received a report from Adebayo Samson, who complained that his son was kidnapped on October 3.

Retired Admiral Mike Okhai Akhigbe, who played several roles in a number of military regimes in Nigeria, passed away today in New York City, SaharaReporters has confirmed.

Gov. Suntai Of Taraba State Marks One-year Air Crash Survival In Church

Recuperating Governor of  Taraba State, Danbaba Danfulani Suntai caused an emotional scene when he stormed the Unity Chapel Church (UCC) in Government House, Jalingo for thanks giving at the weekend.

 

Suntai was pronounced dead when an aircraft he piloted crashed near Yola, the Adamawa State capital, on Thursday, October 25 last year.

 

He spent 10 months in Germany and United States hospitals for treatment, returning on August 25.

South African Rapper Khuli Chana Shot by Police

South African rapper Khuli Chana was reportedly mistaken for a criminal and shot while driving. Photo Facebook.

In a case of mistaken identity, reports say South African Hip-hop artiste Khuli Chana has been shot by the Police.

The multiple award-winning rapper was shot in Midrand, Greater Johannesburg in the early hours of Monday morning, October 28, 2013.

The news was confirmed by Chana’s manager Refiloe Ramogase. According to Ramogase, police had identified Chana’s car as ‘matching the description of a vehicle belonging to a suspected criminal’ SA publication, eNCA reports.

G7 Governors, Others Chased out of New-PDP meeting

NCAA Can’t Find Documents On Oduah's N255M Armoured BMW Cars

The controversy trailing the purchase of two BMW armoured cars for the minister of aviation, Ms Stella Oduah, has taken a ridiculous dimension.

The agency at the centre of the controversial purchase of the bulletproof vehicles and the nation’s civil aviation body, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, has denied that it has documents relating to the acquisition of the bulletproof vehicles.

The development came as indications emerged that Oduah may be barred from attending the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meetings until the conclusion of investigations.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday October 23, 2013 arraigned a banker, Yagana Ibrahim Bukar before Justice Fatu Riman of the Federal High Court Kano on 10-count charge bordering on money laundering and theft.
The accused is said to have abused her position as account officer at Sky Bank Plc and stole N12, 626, 250 of depositors’ fund.
