Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State yesterday returned her wife,
Clara, to her mother in Enugu. Clara was driven to the Coal City Garden
Estate and was handed over to her mother at about 8.am who was said to
have wept profusely on sighting her daughter.
Our reporter, who hovered round the residence, saw about six tinted
cars, including one with Enugu Government House number plate. A young
man, who claimed to be living at the building’s boys’ quarter, confirmed
that Clara was actually brought back to the house in the morning.
“Since she (Clara) was brought here, there have been a series of
meetings. Just a while ago, the governor’s wife left the house; she is
expected back soon,” said a fair complexioned young man who refused to
give his name. It was also gathered that the governor collected the
handsets and Ipad of his wife, prompting the wife to purchase new phone
after her eviction.

Chime had on Sunday night reportedly dumped Clara at the gate of her
mother’s apartment. A mild drama was said to have ensued in the process
of sending Clara out of the Government House as she insisted on taking
her fouryear- old son along with her but was overpowered by security
agents that bundled her out.
It was gathered that on getting to the estate, Clara’s mother was not
found in the house, prompting her to return to the Government House.
Mrs. Chime had a few days ago reacted to submissions by the National
Human Rights Commission, NHRC, that she hallucinates, saying she only
had depression and asked the commission to hands off her case. The
governor’s wife had petitioned NHRC, alleging that she was unlawfully
imprisoned at the Government House. This, Chime denied.
The Civil Liberties Organisation, CLO, South- East Zone, also
intervened, urging the governor to release his wife from alleged
detention, citing human rights violations. CLO alleged that she was held
captive by security details attached to the governor.
