The properties of the late Susan ‘Goldie’ Harvey were auctioned out yesterday Wednesday, May 1, 2013.
The auction which held at her residence,
Ologunkutere Street, Parkview Estate, Ikoyi had friends, fans and
admirers of the late singer coming in to buy various items, with many
hoping to keep them as souvenirs.
The coordinator of the auction, Akinkuotun
who is a friend of the deceased’s family told NET that some of Goldie’s
belongings had already been giving to various charities and academic
institutions.
‘Goldie’s costumes were given to the Theatre Arts Department of the University of Lagos, Akoka and some
of Andrew Harvey’s (Goldie’s husband) technology books will be given
to the Technology Department of the Yaba College of Technology’, she said.
A friend of Goldie’s husband, Raymond Bola Browne also told our reporter the singer was a charming person who loved to give. ‘She
was a very caring person, humble natured, God-fearing and different
from the character most people were used to seeing on TV’.
The items on display included new and
old clothes, handbags, beds, a 72” television, flat and heeled shoes,
make-ups, jewellery, mattress, pots, glass cups and many others.
None of the singer’s family or close friends were at the auction yesterday. The auction continues till Friday, May 3, 2013.
Goldie, until her death was a philanthropist and an ambassador of the pro-women activist group, ‘Project ALERT’, who was also working on a foundation to cater for the less- privileged.
She died on Valentine’s day, Thursday,
February 14, 2013 from a hypertensive heart disease and was buried on
the Monday, February 25, 2013.
