A six-year old girl simply identified as Miss Erenmwon, fell into a
septic tank and got drowned. The incident took place at Osaretin Street,
Off Murtala Muhammed Way, Benin City. Narrating how the incident, one
of the occupants of the building who pleaded anonymity said the late
Erenmwon was given N10 to go and buy biscuit, and on her way to a
neighbourhood shop, she fell into an exposed septic tank.
It was learnt that when Erenmwon’s dad discovered his daughter fell
into the septic tank, he went to search for a ladder with which to climb
into the pit so as to rescue her; a move which was a little too late as
the girl had drowned already.
The landlord of the building where the exposed septic tank is
located, has been arrested by men of the Nigeria Police who got wind of
the incident.
