The governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, on Thursday, came to the rescue of accident victims at the Ebute Metta area of the Third Mainland bridge in Lagos.

A truck carrying meat had lost its bearing and rammed into two vehicles which saw many occupants in the vehicles, including the truck driver, being injured in the process.

Governor Ajimobi, who was on his way to the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) venue of the launch of Vanguard columnist, Chief Kola Animasaun's autobiography and collection of his articles into a book, had happened on the scene immediately it happened.

The governor immediately ordered his convoy to stop and attend to the victims of the accident.

He asked the Government House ambulance on his convoy to immediately make a detour and convey the injured to the hospital.

The governor also went round the scene to ensure that all the victims were not critically injured, offering them words of comfort in the process.

One of the relations of the victims, who was visibly appreciative of the governor's intervention, was full of thanks to the governor, stating that this was the approach that Nigerian leaders must have to the fate of the helpless people
